1. Out Of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper
Out Of My Mind is an extraordinary book that has gravely affected my life by teaching me what is like in the life of someone who has an incredible gift, but no one knows it. One thing that makes this book so good is that the author can help you understand how Melody is feeling through expressing it in her elaborate thoughts when she can't actually speak out loud. I love all of the books on this list, but Out Of My Mind definitely tops them all. When I was reading out of my mind I learned what it was like to be in the shoes of a person with a severe disability and how he/she found a way to be like a normal person. I would suggest this book to everyone because it's so good and completely changed my life!
2. Between Shades Of Grey by Ruta Sepetys
For all those historical fiction lovers out there this will probably be on of the be one of the best books that you will have ever read. Though is is a tragic story, it taught me about important parts of history that I never knew before! The best part was how the main character, Lina, expressed her thoughts in memories of her life before it was dramatically changed. For me I have never read a historical fiction book as good as Between Shades of grey. I hope that everyone reading this blog will get a chance to read this amazing book.
3. Almost Home by Joan Bauer
Almost Home is probably the best book I ever read (tied with Between Shades Of Grey and Out Of My Mind) for so many reasons. When I first saw this book I knew I would like it right away, and I did due to the fact of the letters that Sugar Mae Cole wrote in parts of the story. I loved how the author used a lot of detail in her writing. This book make me think about how hard it would to be homeless and what it was like to deal with it. This is a really good book that I
think everyone that everyone should read.
4. Wonder by R.J. Palico
Wonder has affected my life in many in many ways. If you have read Out Of My Mind or rules you would really like Wonder! This book is one of my favorites because it has a good story that really gives you a new perspective on people. A lot of people have read Wonder and know how big of in impact it has made on their lives! For those people who have not read wonder I would suggest it because it has a great storyline an funny characters!
5. Umbrella Summer by Lisa Graff
The Umbrella Summer is sad, funny, and a great book. This is my favorite book because it is something a lot of people can relate to. This story also has a really good ending which some books don't have. One valuable lesson that this book teaches is to not let worrying about things stop you from doing your favorite things. The Umbrella Summer is a book that I will never forget. So, if
you like good books that you can relate you I would suggest this book.
6. The Fault In Our Stars by Jhon Green
I am almost positive that about everyone in my class is using The Fault In Our Stars as one of their top 10 books. Ever since I started reading this book I never wanted to stop reading. I love this book because it shows how people can get through hard times. This is one of my favorite books because it is funny and sad at the same time. It also has a very interesting storyline that never gets boring. So if you haven't read The Fault In Our Stars yet I would try to read it!
7. The Genius Files Series by Dan Gutman
When put in a bad (when I say bad I mean really really really bad) situation twins Coke and Pepsi McDonald always find a way to fix their problem. When my mom first ordered the first few books in this series I wasn't interested until I read the first few pages. The Genius Files Has changed my life forever in many ways including my geography skills. Whenever I feel sad I will just of one of the many funny lines in this book and start laughing in the middle of class! I will never be the same again.
8. The Glass Castle Jeannette Walls
I could not imagine that some of the events in this book have really happened. As Jeannette Wall's memoir it shocks me on how hard her childhood was. Now knowing that she is currently a best-selling author makes me think "how could anyone be able to share their painful past and still overcome it." I usually think about The Glass Castle every day, wondering about what I really think about some of the characters. I know that a lot of people have read it, but for those who haven't you have to go to the library and get The Glass Castle right away.
9. The Silver Star Jeannette Walls
The Silver star is just one of those books that you will remember forever. With complicated lives of the characters Bean and Liz, there is always an interesting conflict going on. I found out how to solve complicated problems and how to get over them. The Silver Star shows that you can always make it through the hardest times even when it seems impossible. If I you read this book you will will never want to put it down.
10. Rules by Cynthia Lord
I don't have anyone in my family with a disability, but reading Rules helped me understand what it is like and how difficult it can be. This is one of my all time favorite books because of the way that the author expressed the characters feelings. I learned that you can make friends with the people you would least expect. For people who have read Wonder and Out Of My Mind this book is a must read.
I really love how you described Wonder and I really couldn't find any problems with this blog
