TKAM Setting Blog

My primary source photo, "On A Road Near Eutaw, Alabama." Relates to To Kill A Mockingbird in many ways. In the picture, I noticed two African American women wearing worn clothes walking along a dusty looking road in what seems to be a rural area. This relates to the story because it seems to portray the bleakness of the town. The clothes the women were wearing relate to the story too. I think this because the setting of the book took place during the Great Depression, and many of the people in the town were quite poor.

Based on the primary source, I think that if this photo was taken today, things would be a lot different. One example is that the road probably would be a highway, or paved. There would also be differences in the book. For example, in the Scout was afraid of the snow. Today, if there was snow down there, kids would recognize it right away. As you can see, I think that this photo was taken today, things would be a lot different.

In conclusion, my primary source, "On A Road Near Eutaw, Alabama" I found many similarities between To Kill A Mockingbird and the photograph. Due to the similarities of the settings, and time of the pictures, I can clearly see how this picture resembles the Scout's town in To Kill A Mockingbird. Therefore, the photo, "On A Road Near Eutaw, Alabama" has many similarities between the primary course and the book.
