Book: The Echo Maker
Pages read: 1-94
Prompt: Summarize what you have read so far.
For this week's blog, I read the book, The Echo Maker, by Richard Powers. A couple days ago my mom told me that one of the biggest awards a book can get is the Pulitzer prize, and this book was a finalist, so I thought it would be fun to read. So far, I really like it, this book is a lot different than books I usually read, so it is very interesting. I hope that everyone gets a chance to read this amazing book.
Twenty seven year old mark ends up in a near death car crash, with severe head trauma, but luckily he survives. Mark's sister Karen goes to see him at the hospital and when he comes out of the coma he thinks his sister is a fraud. When Karen takes Mark to a famous neurologist he diagnosed him with capgras syndrome, a disease where you can't reconize your loved ones and think that they are impostors!
I could not imagine having a loved one think you are an impostor! That probably is very hard for Karen. If I did not mention this yet, this book is very sad, so it is kind of hard to read. Otherwise I am enjoying The Echo Maker so far. I hope you enjoyed my blog post for this week!! See you next time!!!
