Prompt: Write a poetry response
The poem that I chose to do my response on was Manatee Humanity. This poem is about manatees and how they are threatened in thier enviroment. I think the author wrote this because she wanted to teach the world about manatees. A lot of animals are endangered and though it is important to learn about manatees, I feel that the auther kind of implied that other animals are going throughWhile I was reading I visualized manatees swimming. 
This poem reminds me of manatees. (Text to self) This winter when I was in Florida, I went to a manatee reserve and saw real manatees! (Text to book) This also really reminds me of a book called Manatee Blues, it has pretty much the same theme as the poem. (Text to world) All over the world they use endangered animals to represent things. For example in China they have pandas on coins and in Florida they have manatees on a lot of things too! So, this poem can pretty much relate to the world.
