Of Beetles and Angles, and Aow Blog

In Of Beetles and Angles, and "Europe struggles to cope with migrants' march of misery" I noticed that the Beth, from my book, and Sandor Pinter from my article have a lot in common. In Of Beetles and Angels, the text stated, "...Beth, a nurse, instantly knew that he had malaria." This shows me that Beth cared enough to want to help Mawi's father. In the article, it mentioned, "We have devised a solution to this extraordinary situation together, and we attempted to resolve it together." This teaches me that he is also trying to help the refugees. Therefore, both Beth, and Sandor Pinter are trying to help the refugees.

In my book and article, there are many events that connect to each other. One event is refugees moving to a new place. In the book, one example is "My parents couldn't just snap thief fingers and conjure up a transatlantic jetliner." This means that it is hard for them to travel as refugees to. New place. The same thing was for the refugees in my article. I know this because it stated, "For days, hundreds of refugees from the Middle East made the final leg of their trip through Hungary on foot, walking the 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) to the Austrian border in the middle of the night, unsure of what was going to happen to them when they got there." This shows me that the refugees in the article had some troubles with traveling too. Due to this, I know that the book and article both contain some similar events.

War effects individuals and society a great deal by breaking apart peace, and not allowing a feel of safety. War can tear apart families, and leave mad memories, that can scar a person for life. In war, others might feel pressured to do certain things, for example, war could make people feel un-safe, so they might have to leave their homeland. War effects society because it can tear nations, families, and even countries or the world apart! It puts citizens in danger, and is overall a very very bad thing. Then again, asking for world peace is like asking the moon to suddenly become cheese! It is also a human instinct to not like some people, even just the slightest bit. If everyone liked everyone, there would be no new ideas or diversity! I also learned a lot from our AOW showcases this week from my peers. I learned that some individuals are caught in the middle, not sure what to do, and if they make the wrong choice, they could be effected greatly. In conclusion, war effects individuals and society a great deal.
