The Body in the Woods Blog for the week of 10/14/14

Book: The Body in the Woods

Prompt: List at least three life challenging problems that the characters faced. Which was the most life changing?

The first problem that the main characters, Ruby, Alexis, and Nick faced, was that they found a dead body I the woods. They belong to a program called SAR search and rescue. After a long time of training, they were able to go on their first mission; finding a missing autistic man who was most likely hiding in the park. Instead of finding him, they found something else, the dead body of a girl, inside of a bush. After getting help, they figured out that she was probably murdered, because they found an indentation on her neck, which lead them to think she was murdered. This was a problem for them, because they found a dead body, and they were kind of in shock. I would be if I found a dead body! As you can see, Ruby, Alexis, and Nick, faced a life changing problem, by finding the body in the woods

The second problem was that they found out that the murderer of the girl, was most likely a serial killer, and the detective didn't believe them. More people were found dead, in the same place, but the detective didn't think she was killed by the same person. He though this because all the girls who were murdered were from different backgrounds. I think that this was life changing for Alexis, Ruby, and Nick because if the killer was a serial killer, then one of them could possible be in danger, which is defiantly not good. If one of them were to be targeted, then   that could change their life. Right?

The last problem is that Alexis's mom is suffering from a mental illness. One time, she woke up Alexis in the middle of the night because she wanted to bake cookies. When Alexis was young, her mom would read her books, but if she started falling asleep, she would make her wake up to look at the pictures. As you can see, Alexis's mom is suffering from a mental illness, which is not good for Alexis. Living with only one parent who has a mental illness can be life changing, and what if something happens to Alexis's mom? That would be a life changing problem too. Therefore, a life changing problem that a character in my book faced is that Alexis's mom is suffering from a mental illness.
